Today we present the case of a Lancia Delta 1600 MJet 88Kw engine code 198A2000 that does not start when the car is parked outside and exposed to sunlight. The strange thing is that if the car is not exposed to the sun, it starts regularly and does not present any problem.

The engine runs but does not start, and all the fault codes listed below occur:

in the engine ECU:

• U0426 electronic key 00c424 error in memory
• U1700 communication between engine control unit and body computer 00d700 error in memory

in ecu  body computer:

• U1600 minicrypt- invalid request error in memory
• U1701 motor control (NCM) error in memory
• U1706 braking system (NFR) error in memory
• B1004 serial line a-bus-communication error in memory

in ecu atbs:

• C1412 steering angle sensor not calibrated error in memory
• U1700 body computer (NBC) error in memory
• U1717 electric driving (NGE) error in memory

in ecu electric driving:

• C1003 vehicle speed signal (can) error in memory
• in ecu  instrument panel:
• U1701 memory error
• U1706 error in memory

in ecu  instrument panel:

• U1701 memory error
• U1706 error in memory

Solution: The replacement of the body computer unit led to the solution of the problem.

It was probably the heat that caused a deformation (albeit imperceptible) of the body computer body, such that it generated false contacts inside it and hence a series of errors and the failure to start the engine.
