Alfa Romeo Giulia anomaly after rear bumper change
good morning
Today we present a case solved with the assistance of fellow trainer Cascone Salvatore
in summary we represent what happened :
The Alfa Romeo Giulia vehicle had a rear impact that required the replacement of the bumper.
At the body shop they installed a new bumper suitable for the Blind Spot system, but the vehicle was originally without it.
For this reason, there were 2 error codes in the Magneti Marelli body computer module control unit in the diagnosis:
- error 83d97c message counter/CRC fault in TRANSM2
- error 4a90aa configuration check failed incorrect installed component
After careful technical examination of the rear of the car, we realised that the wiring harness for the blind spot system had also been prepared by the manufacturer. Mistakenly, the wiring harness was connected to the bumper during assembly and generated the errors.
We solved it by unplugging the connector and the problem disappeared.
We thank our colleague Salvatore for the report
Best regards and good work
Antonio
ps we remind you that the Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) system, together with the optional Rear Cross Path Detection function, is the system that monitors the area around the car by means of sensors, assists the driver during lane changes, when overtaking and when exiting car parks by monitoring any approaching cars.
