FCA Mjet turbo engine tests
Good morning,
Today we present some useful checks in the event of anomalies on the Fiat group's variable geometry turbo. In detail, we deal with the case of 1.3, 1.6 and 2.0 Mjet engines; if these errors occur, proceed as follows:
Error P2563 Diagnosis VGT position tracking
Error P0238 Positive turbocharger drive drift (low pressure) - Signal calculation error
- Vacuum gauge test
- Disconnect the tubing from the VGT actuator capsule ;
- Check for deformation, bending, damage to the rod, linkages or loosening of calibration nuts.
IF THE VARIABLE GEOMETRY ROD DOES NOT MOVE, THE TURBO IS DAMAGED.
In the absence of a vacuum gauge, carry out the tests listed below:
- Checking the vacuum air circuit: measure the vacuum value before and after the vacuum reservoir and check for abnormal constrictions and kinks in the piping.
- Checking the pressurised air circuit: make sure that the sleeves are properly secured and that the clamps are not loose, disassemble the sleeves, check for notches, cracks and report any breaks.
- Dismantle the vacuum reservoir with its piping and ensure that there are no cracks/holes/cuts that could in any way create an air leak.
Check whether the tubing that connects the depressor's secondary connector to the vacuum reservoir is deformed and whether there is oil in it; if so, replace the depressor and the vacuum tubing kit and vacuum reservoir. If no abnormality is found, proceed with the vacuum reservoir leak test by immersing it in water.
- Carry out an active diagnosis of the pierburg solenoid valve and check that it is operating correctly.
- Connect the vacuum gauge to the nozzle of the vgt, creating a vacuum with the instrument: check whether the dipstick moves or remains stationary.
With the hope of having given you useful information, on behalf of the Help Desk team I thank you and wish you good work
