FIAT Grande Punto 1.4 8v - Cold starts and shuts down
FIAT all 1400 petrol 8-valve engines with IAW 5SF ecu
When the engine is cold in the starting phase, it starts and then stops.
It only starts if you try at least 4 -5 times to start the engine.
When finished, the engine starts and always runs well.
engine ecu diagnosis shows: engine water temperature sensor error
We suggest checking whether the value of the intake air temperature deviates significantly from the value of the ambient air temperature when the engine is completely cold. For example, if the air temperature is 20 degrees in the workshop, the air sensor reads 65 degrees.
SOLUTION
The problem is not related to the failure of the engine water temperature sensor, but instead the absolute air pressure/air t. sensor must be replaced and the problem solved.
A new Fiat part number 773.648.69 is available
good work to all
kind regards
Antonio
