Nissan Qashqai 2.0 Dci engine M9R - year 2008
Fault detected: Vehicle enters workshop with particle filter and engine warning lights on.
First intervention: forced regeneration carried out; FAP light goes out but engine light remains on.
DIAGNOSIS:
- P2002= Particle filter (2nd blockage level exceeded)
- P1435= Particle Filter Regeneration
Both errors cannot be cleared. In particular, P2002 denotes that the FAP has exceeded the 2nd clogging threshold, which is very dangerous because at the limit of reversibility.
In any case, in view of the fact that regeneration was successful (and the specific warning light went out), we recommend that the workshop Tech proceed to check the sensitive parameters:
- Differential pressure: value of 10-20 mbar with the engine idling. This would confirm that the filter has been cleaned.
- Absence of other errors in self-diagnosis.
Unfortunately, however, the data confirm that the FAP needs to be replaced, as there are no faults that have prevented the filter from being completely cleaned: we advise Tech to proceed with the replacement of the FAP by launching the command 'replace particle filter'.
This is followed by the command of "Cancel Particle Filter Data“.
This command results in the deletion of the stored errors related to excessive FAP clogging, with the engine warning light switching off.
CONCLUSIONS:
the fault was caused by negligence on the part of the driver who excessively delayed his return to the workshop from the moment the alert appeared on the dashboard.
The excessive clogging did not allow self-healing on the road, so a forced regeneration at the Checkstar workshop would have been necessary.
The lack of piloted regeneration caused the FAP to be completely soiled and consequently obliged to be replaced.
