Metal noise front doors Fiat 500
Many of you have no doubt come across a Fiat 500 in your workshop. Have you ever noticed in some of them, that metallic sound when closing the front doors or the window lifters?!
We at the Help Desk have come across this type of problem several times and today we would like to show you the solution.
After some testing, we realised that the annoying 'clanking noise' is caused by the loosening of the bolts that secure the guides in which the glass slides during opening and closing. The weakening of the fixing allows a slight movement of the guides, which then slam against the door frame.
To solve this problem, simply follow the procedure below:
1. Remove the door panel, so that the window guides are accessible;
2.Remove the sound protection and then reach for the 4 nuts that secure the glass guides (see below);
3.Check that the 4 fastening nuts are loose, loosen them completely and then remove them;
4.Equip yourself with liquid 'threadlocker' and sprinkle it on the stud bolts, mounted on the guides;
5.Replace and tighten the 4 fastening nuts properly;
6.Proceed to replace the sound-absorbing material and door panel.
As usual, we hope we have been helpful...see you next time.
