peugeot 207 1400 petrol suddenly stops
Good morning everyone and Happy New Year, a Peugeot 207 1400 petrol, year 2009, engine kfv, arrives at the workshop with the tow truck, the car has suddenly switched off and will not start again, strange error codes appear in the diagnosis, most probably caused by this anomalous switch-off, I see that the battery light does not remain permanently lit when the ignition is switched on but continues to flash, we check the battery charger but it is OK.
We check the engine control unit, it has three connectors coming in, we unplug them and find water in one of them, we clean it well, we spray it with contact spray and the car starts up, the customer picks it up and goes home, we thought that the water had got there unintentionally, maybe they had added some permanent liquid and some of it had got there, because what we found tasted of antifreeze.
Ten days go by and the car stops again I go back to the workshop and we still find water in the same connector then a question arises: where is this coming from?
I read a few magazines and find a technical info that says:
On these cars it may be that the water bulb mounted on the thermostat is leaking and by capillary action this rises up to the control unit.
With the chassis and the original programme I print out a drawing of the cooling system and I see that there are two bulbs on the thermostat box. I check them, the first one is screwed in and it's dry and we leave it alone, the second one is mounted directly on the pressure thermostat and we see that it's a bit damaged, since it's complete with thermostat we change everything, clean everything again and return the car.
It's been about a month and the car hasn't stopped, we called it back to the workshop for a check-up and where it used to fill with water it is now dry !!!!ù
Good work to all
