Mercedes Benz SL 300 (R129) electric soft top fault diagnosis procedure
Good morning everyone. Below is the procedure for diagnosing malfunctions in the electric soft top management system fitted to Mercedes Benz SL300 (R129)
Troubleshooting procedure Cabinets:
1.locate the diagnostic connector in the bonnet;
2. obtain an electric wire and strip it at both ends;
3. turn the ignition key to ON;
4. jumper pin no. 1 and pin no. 10 in the diagnosis for approx. 4 seconds: when the jumper is removed, the roof button starts flashing
5. count the flashes of the button.
5. repeat the procedure until you find all the errors: you will realise you have found them all because they will then repeat according to the number of flashes.
In most cases, it is precisely these stored errors that cause the soft top to fail. Often, deleting the errors will reset the soft top. To delete errors, proceed as follows:
Jumper #1 and #10 for approx. 4 seconds. Once the flashes have occurred, wait approximately 4 seconds: at this point put one side of the cable to pin no. 10 and the other to earth for approximately 8 seconds;
2 repeat the procedure for all errors present
If the cancellation was successful when you reinsert the cable at pin #1 and #10 the soft top button should only flash once: now test the soft top operation. If the soft top still malfunctions hold the button down for 80 seconds, release it and count the flashes of the warning light.
N.B.: The same applies to roll bar diagnostics, but instead of using pins 1 and 10, use pins 1 and 7.
With the hope that this procedure will be useful to you, we wish you good work.
