Security Pass: Magneti Marelli Aftermarket's solution for diagnosing new-generation FCA cars equipped with Security Gateway (SGW)
Starting in the second half of 2017, FCA introduced a filter (SGW) that intercepts communications between the on-board control units and the tester, allowing only the reading of diagnostic data blocking active functions such as error cancellation, adjustments, activations, service resets, etc.
The SGW system is currently installed on board almost the entire FCA vehicle range. For example Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio; Fiat Tipo, 500, 500L, 500X; Jeep Renegade, Compass, Wrangler and Grand Cherokee.
For a complete diagnosis of these vehicles, in line with the manufacturer's requirements, and therefore absolutely legally with a multi-brand tester, you need to log on to the FCA service website (www.technicalinformation.fiat.com) and after registering your workshop, purchase a subscription which currently costs 1€ for the duration of 24 hours.
After connecting Security Pass via USB to the PC (Win 10) connected to the Internet, and entering the credentials of the FCA site with which the subscription was purchased, it is possible to unlock the SGW control unit and proceed with the complete diagnosis of the vehicle.
The supplied Y-cable allows you to connect any multi-brand diagnostic tester and perform all available active functions.
In addition to the SGW control unit outlet, Security Pass also enables the deactivation of the Logistic Mode e Performance Limitation (for petrol vehicles).
A tool indispensable for those working with fleets or on recent cars of the brand FCAdeveloped according to the related guidelines and in accordance with maintenance of the vehicle warranty.
