Today we bring you a very special case, encountered here at the Technical Help Desk.

A Toyota Corolla Verso 2.2 D4-D, with engine code 2AD-FHV, had a very unusual fault: error code P1386 and car recovery.

Error code P1386 (Fuel Additive System - faulty operation) leads to the need to analyse the operation of several components, as shown in the picture below.

After carrying out all the necessary checks and replacing the injector of the additive system, the system was in perfect condition, except for one thing: once the error code had been cleared, it reappeared every 40 km or so.

On investigating, we discovered a software malfunction in the engine management unit: by updating to the new software, the car no longer presented any anomalies. Below you can find the technical bulletin summarising the problem and its resolution.
